ABOUT
Mary Verspoor, of Indonesian-Dutch descent, is a Bali-based designer and creator. She works closely with her in-house team of craftsmen at her studio. The hand carved wooden object and furniture designs are inspired by nature, using traditional and modern elements.
Born with the mission to provide high quality products that are unique and authentic, the designers and makers of Mary's studio aim to retain and enhance the organic qualities found in recycled teak and tropical hardwoods, while respecting the natural environment.
Mary Verspoor, formerly Craft District, supplies a wide range of exclusive designs for a multitude of international residential and commercial projects, including premium department store Lane Crawford Limited, luxury hotels such as Aman Resorts, Hotel & Residences, and Regis Hotels & Resorts, and top restaurants, while liaising with international interior decorators and architects.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Our values include creativity, authenticity, giving excellence and sustainability. We work with and redesign the raw material to offer furniture and home décor made of reclaimed, recycled, or responsibly sourced materials. Our small team of designers and woodworkers have the creative ability and developed skills to accentuate the imperfect beauty of the wooden natural material to create something new.
We design and promote slow furniture making. Slow furniture refers to furniture that is not mass produced but rather made by a craftsperson slowly and carefully, ensuring a higher quality product with less waste. Finest quality goods usually use high-quality materials and can be reused, passed on, repaired and recycled. In short, this means longer life cycles and thus the protection of the environment.
IN-HOUSE MANUFACTURING
From the choice of raw materials to the final assembly of the product, we develop our entire manufacturing process in-house. We control the manufacturing process of a piece of furniture from start to finish without any intermediaries in between; this allows us to track how the product is evolving. Through our in-house manufacturing and our local sourcing, we are able to focus on customisation, offer product repair services for our clients and reduce pollution. All employees, customers, suppliers are treated fairly and with respect.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
We are taking steps to minimize and optimize our packaging materials to reduce waste. We have eliminated single-use plastic and are currently only using paper packaging.
